Andy Sullivan Leading South African Open

Andy Sullivan Leading South African Open
English golfer Andy Sullivan is off to a great start at this week’s South African Open, currently leading the pack after a second round 2-under-70.

Sullivan, the overnight joint-leader got right back into the swing of things Friday morning, finishing at the halfway mark with an 8-under overall. Currently sitting just 1-stroke ahead of Charl Schwartzel.

With the rest of the field still finishing up it is possible the second round results may change, but Sullivan seems more than pleased with his performance so far and will be hoping his good form continues throughout the weekend.

Five-time South African Open winner Ernie Els is also hoping for his first win of 2015. The 45-year-old stormed into the first round carding 6 birdies and 1 bogey to finish yesterday with an incredible 5-under-67.

“That was nice,” Els told reporters afterwards.  “I was a little nervous here and there but it was so nice to play Glendower in front of my home crowd."

Els, who last won at the 2013 BMW International Open is on the hunt to prove himself after a winless 2014.

So will a home soil advantage help take Els to the top of the leaderboard on Sunday?

Not so if Sullivan has his way.  Check out the 28-year-old’s one-hander today on the 9th.
