Players from the world of professional
golf have teed off in the first round of the first round of the Avantha Masters today, with each of them competing for the stunning winner's trophy.
Unveiled yesterday (February 16th), the gong - which is covered in Swarovski crystals - was presented to the media after officials from the European, Professional Golf and Asian Tour spoke at a press conference.
Also in attendance were Irish professional Paul McGinley - who turned professional in 1991 - and Englishman David Horsey, as well as current titleholder SSP Chowrasia of India.
The launch of the tournament - which is well-known on the Asian Tour due to its large prize fund - marks the start of a promising future for golf in the nation.

Ryder Cup, said: "India is a very important market for the European Tour and we give thanks to Avantha for their sponsorship and to DLF Golf and Country Club."
