Brooks Koepka Wins First PGA Tour Title in Phoenix

Brooks Koepka Wins First PGA Tour Title in Phoenix
The European Tour’s Rookie of the Year for 2014, Brooks Koepka is proving his worth back on the other side of the pond.  Winning his first PGA Tour title yesterday at the Phoenix Open.

Koepka’s maiden victory was earned after an impressive eagle on the 15th placed him in a tie for the lead.  While the other golfers around him seemed to lose their nerve, the 24-year-old American, using the new Titleist Pro V1x, was able to hold it together.  Securing the title by just 1-stroke to finish with a 15-under 269 total.

A result the Titleist player is more than satisfied with.

“It’s unbelievable,” Koepka told reporters afterwards.  “I didn't think I would work my way up this quickly, but playing the Challenge and European tours led to this.  And especially the failure I’ve had.  I can’t tell you how much I learned from that.”

Over two years ago Koepka missed his first shot at a PGA Tour card after failing to make it through Q-school.  The young golfer decided to head overseas, fine-tuning his game first on the Challenge Tour before earning a spot on the European Tour.

In November Koepka scored his first win on the European Tour at the Turkish Airlines Open.  The same month he was named the Tour’s Rookie of the Year for 2014.

At the time Koepka stated, “I’ve worked so hard this year, and to see the results is fun.”

It now looks like all his hard work is paying off even more.  With two wins in four starts Koepka is definitely proving he’s one to watch in 2015.
