Cheyenne Woods Grabs First Career Title in Australia
Having the surname Woods and taking up golf can be a pretty daunting task.  But for Tiger Woods’ niece Cheyenne, it’s an undertaking that’s paying off as she secured her first Tour victory this weekend at the Australian Ladies Masters.

The Nike player, just like her uncle, was able to hold off the Australian amateur, Minjee Lee during Sunday’s final round to finish with a 4-under 69 at the Royal Pines, 16-under 276 overall.  Woods was ecstatic to conquer her first win and to finally prove she’s more than just Tiger’s niece.

“It's nice now to say to people that I can play and I'm not just a name.  Growing up with the last name of Woods, there's a lot of expectations and pressure and spotlight on you but I always knew that I was able to win,” Woods said after Sunday’s victory.  “I always knew I'd be able to compete with these ladies, so now it's kind of a weight off my shoulders because now everybody knows not just me.”

Her uncle was impressed as well.  Tweeting his support and pride for the younger Woods on Sunday.

Up next for the 23-year-old is the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open this coming weekend in Victoria.  Woods will be hoping to carry on the momentum from the Gold Coast as she competes against some of the best LPGA players including, Catriona Matthew, Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis.
