When it comes to planning a golf
tournament, who better to help than someone with an extensive knowledge of the sport as well as a thorough awareness of the event's location?
This could be why Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke
has joined forces with European Tour officials to discuss the upcoming Irish Open, which will take place at Royal Portrush Golf Club.
The 2011 Open Championship
winner has teamed up with members of staff with the aim of making one of the world's premier links courses even better in time for the prestigious tournament.
Clarke - who turned professional in 1990 - said: "The golf course itself doesn’t need much tweaking - it just needs thick rough in a few areas where the guys take things on."
Portrush is set to host the hotly-contested tournament for the first time since 1947 as players from around the world descend on the location on June 28th.
