Players who get a little lonely carting their
golf balls around 18 holes alone can join a website offering the chance for companionship and maybe a relationship developed on the fairways.
The Daily Telegraph reports of a website called TEEforeTWO, aimed at single golfers who could make a new friend with a similar hobby.
Co-founders of the website Janet Rampton and Michael Rayment began their own relationship after meeting at a golf event and believe that hitting golf balls offers an easy approach to meeting new people.
Ms Rampton told the publication: "How good you are at golf doesn't matter," although some people may be more embarrassed than pleased when they miss a shot from three foot with their
golf putter.
"I would never be attracted to a man simply because he was a good golfer. But it is a great game and a great way to meet new people," she added.
However, Sergio Garcia is expecting his golf to improve after falling out of love, following his recent split from former girlfriend Morgan-Leigh Norman.
The world number five split from the daughter of Greg Norman in March and has struggled for form since but now believes he is mentally ready to perform back to his best.
