Golf course leads drive to get more females in the swing

In a bid to encourage more women to enjoy the benefits of hitting golf ball, free lessons are being offered next month at a club in South London.
With only one in ten golfers in the UK currently female and the sport proving a useful form of exercise, Addington Court Golf Centre in Croydon is leading the drive to recruit new players.
Running for a week from February 8th, the club is hoping its 'Women in Golf Week' will get more females swinging their golf irons and improving their fitness.
The event also ties in with the LOVE2 sports festival and Colin White, head professional at the course, feels the opportunity to boost their golf talent is an ideal challenge for individuals looking for new hobbies.
He said: "If you want to try something new in 2010, here's your chance. We want to see lots of women and girls here at Addington Court during the second week in February."
Meanwhile, female celebrities Halle Berry and Kylie Minogue are among those known to enjoy taking their golf bags out onto the course for 18 holes of fun.
