Charley Hoffman is showing his support for the sponsors of the latest PGA Tour event by hitting the golf course wearing green
golf shoes and a
golf glove of the same colour.
Hoffman has always been aware of the environment from a young age and has chosen to try to get others to think in the same way at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The
Titleist 909D2 golf driver and
Titleist Pro V1 golf balls user said: "A lot of people wear the same Titleist hat. That's what we've done with the green glove. Think green, keep America beautiful, just getting the word out to thousands of people.
"That's what Waste Management is trying to do. They have the four Rs - reduce, recycle, reuse and recover."
Waste Management is to sponsor the event until 2015 and is hoping in this timeframe to make the tournament the greenest to take place in the US.
However, Hoffman failed to get off to the best start as he fired a one-over-par 72 in his opening round to sit in a share of 95th position.
