Rory McIlroy's fortunes went from bad to worse earlier this week when his
Titleist golf clubs went missing en route to Malaysia.
The 21-year-old was making his way to the Malaysian Open following his final round US Masters horror show when his cherished equipment failed to show up.
"It's one of these things. Going through so many time zones and so many connecting flights your bags are going to get lost sometimes," he said.
The news came after McIlroy fired an eight over par final round of 80 at Augusta last Sunday (April 10th), handing victory to South African Charl Schwartzel in the process.
McIlroy had led the tournament for 63 holes and carried a four-shot lead into the final 18 holes but failed to match his earlier performances in the tournament.
However, after being reunited with his missing clubs, McIlroy charged to the front of the Malaysian Open leaderboard and was level with Alexander Noren after two rounds.
