Being able to hit a
golf ball an extra 50 yards off the tee can have a major bearing on a player's scorecard and Titleist have looked to solve this problem with some
golf drivers that have an emphasis on greater distance.
Not only does a more booming drive offer a player increased confidence in their game, but it also makes shooting a lower score easier.
This could be through firing a
golf wedge into a green rather than a longer
golf iron or enabling a player to possibly reach a par five in only two shots.
Greater distance off the tee could be especially beneficial in the colder weather as balls tend not to fly as well in denser air, while they are also not as resilient.
One way around this is to use a lower compression ball, but another is to change to different golf equipment with the capability of enhancing the distance travelled by shots with both drivers and golf irons.
Among the offerings available to players is the
Titleist 909D2 golf driver, which aims to provide golfers with longer, straighter drives.
The driver provides a solid feel, less vibration and a greater sound through the use of a tuned sole, while it has a full pear profile design.
A number of professionals are currently benefitting from the positives of the driver, including Northern Irish youngster Rory McIlroy, Australian star Adam Scott and 2007 US Masters champion Zach Johnson.
Those looking for a slightly smaller head on their club, alongside a deeper face, may instead prefer the
Titleist 909D3 golf driver.
This driver offers many of the same benefits as the 909D2 such as generating low spin, but also enhances workability through its face to improve shot and trajectory control.
World number three Steve Stricker and Ross Fisher both take to the course with the club in their
golf bags, which is available in a range of lofts between 8.5 degrees and 10.5 degrees.
Although these drivers are already low in weight to help provide the greatest results, there is another option that is lighter still.
The
Titleist 909D golf driver benefits from a composite construction, combining a non-metal with titanium.
Its composite crown leaves the face to hold all of the weight and strength of the club, with this design tending to offer greater forgiveness and a larger sweet spot.
This driver also has an 11.5 degree loft which may prove to be an aid for those players who struggle to get height on their tee shots or have a slower swing speed.
Meanwhile, players may also want to take advantage of the brand's golf balls, which are extremely popular on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
The
Titleist Pro V1x golf balls utilise a four-piece dual core construction to maximise distance.
Alternatively, the
Titleist Pro V1 golf balls have a three-piece multi-layer construction and have improved scoring performance and cover durability over older offerings.
