Golf Legend Tony Jacklin Admits He was Too Old to Win Strictly
Tony Jacklin became the first celebrity to be voted off this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.  Performing a golf-inspired Charleston with his partner Aliona Vilani that failed to impress the judges.

He might have been given the boot early in the competition but 69-year-old Jacklin is glad he gave the television show a chance and happy to have given the game he loves a little more exposure.

Telling the Scunthorpe Telegraph, “It was a nice little piece and it was good for golf.  It had 10 million people watching a little skit on golf and we gave the game a plug.”

Jacklin’s also well aware that his chances of lasting to the end of the season were never that solid.

“The standard of dance and dedication was amazing and, physically, it was so demanding, with practising for four hours a day and 10-hour commitments on Fridays and Saturdays,” said the two-time Major Winner.  “I can't see anybody north of 50 ever winning it.”
