Wie given PGA opportunity

Wie given PGA opportunity
Former child golf prodigy Michelle Wie will be given another opportunity to test her game against the best on the men's circuit after accepting an invite to play in the Reno-Tahoe Open.

The event, which starts on Thursday, July 31st, will be the seventh PGA event Wie has taken part - she has failed to make the cut in every tournament so far.

The 18-year-old commented: "This is a tremendous opportunity for me. It's not every day that a woman is given the chance to play on the greatest tour in the world."

While director of the Reno-Tahoe Open, Michael Stearns, explained the move to invite the Hawaiian teenager: "Michelle is getting her game together, she's getting back in the swing of things, and we have no problem extending her this opportunity."

Wie made a boob at the LPGA Tour State Farm Classic last weekend, forgetting to sign a score card after a third round which saw her lying sixth. She was promptly disqualified from the tournament.
