USPGA champion Martin Kaymer is raring to go after taking three weeks off in the wake of his victory at Whistling Straits.
The world number six has not made an appearance on the PGA or European Tour since his first major triumph on August 15th but will be playing in the KLM Open in The Netherlands this week.
Despite taking it easy for the last three weeks, Kaymer is not expecting to suffer from ring-rust and is already targeting another win.
He said practice with his
TaylorMade irons and
TaylorMade R9 Supertri driver had been going well and that he is in a good frame of mind to challenge at the top of the leaderboard.
"I have been hitting balls over the last week or so now, working with my coach and then was able to drive [to The Netherlands] from home and it took me just a couple of hours," Kaymer commented.
"It's a great week for me - my family and friends are all coming over for the week so it feels a bit like a home event for me this week.
"I feel good, very well rested and I just hope that the game is still there so that I can contend this week and try to win again because I am ready to win again, that's for sure."
Louis Oosthuizen, another of this year's major champions, will also be appearing at the KLM Open alongside the likes of Robert Karlsson, Ross Fisher, Alvaro Quiros, Francesco Molinari, Darren Clarke and Jeev Milkha Sing.
Over in the US, the PGA Tour moves on quickly from the Monday finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship to the BMW Championship, which starts tomorrow (Thursday, September 9th).
The final event before the TOUR Championship, the BMW Championship is sure to host a tense battle as the world's leading players jostle for position in the FedEx Cup points race.
Only the top 70 players - and ties - in the FedEx Cup points list will appear in Illinois this week, and the field is set to be cut to 30 for the TOUR Championship.
Big names ranked outside the top 30 include world number one Tiger Woods, who is in 51st place despite a recent return to form; YE Yang; Vijay Singh; Ian Poulter and Anthony Kim.
However, the pressure is off for Charley Hoffman, who won the Deutsche Bank Open on Monday to move to second place in the FedEx Cup standings.
Indeed, Hoffman is more concerned about the prospects of Woods making it to the TOUR Championship to defend his FedEx Cup trophy.
"Obviously you always want Tiger to play well," Hoffman confirmed.
"It's great for the game and brings people out to the course. Obviously you want to beat him, but you want him to play well, too, for our sport, because he definitely brings media, people, fans out here and does a great job promoting the game of golf."
Woods, who was yesterday handed a wildcard to appear in next month's Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor, said his shot-making with his
Nike VR TW Blade irons has started to "transition" since working with swing coach Sean Foley.
