Simon Dyson claims third KLM Open title
England 's Simon Dyson climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time in his career after claiming his third KLM Open in six years.

The 33-year-old recovered well from dropped shots at the fourth and eleventh, shooting birdies on four of the last seven holes to beat compatriot David Lynn by one shot.

He joins an illustrious list of three-time winners in Holland , which includes Seve Ballesteros and Bernhard Langer.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be on the same trophy as names like those two," Dyson said. "It's something special, a dream come true really. To win any title once is tough, but to win it three times is a fantastic feeling.

"I started a bit shakily - my timing was just a little bit off - but after my bogey on 11 I played pretty flawless golf," he added.

US Open champion Rory McIlroy finished third, a result which lifted him back up to number three in the rankings following a similar finish in the European Masters.

"It's not been a bad two weeks," the 22-year-old, who is looking for his first professional win in Europe, remarked. "To be able to give myself a chance when I didn't have my best stuff I was quite pleased, but I should have made more of that fast start."

Meanwhile, Great Britain and Ireland 's top amateurs won the Walker Cup for the first time in eight years, beating their US counterparts 14-12 at Royal Aberdeen.

The hosts needed 13-and-a-half points to take the title and they took an insurmountable lead when 17-year-old Welshman Rhys Pugh won his singles match against Kelly Kraft and Steven Brown halved with Blayne Barber.

"I couldn't have dreamt of better - I've never felt anything like this before," Pugh said afterwards.

Great Britain and Ireland captain Nigel Edwards said described the win as "fantastic".

"They are a very special bunch of guys," he continued. "Our preparation and desire to win probably gave us the edge. I told my players that they all deserved to be here."

On the Ladies European Tour, France 's Jade Schaeffer kept her cool to win the inaugural Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters by two strokes.

The 25-year-old began the day four shots clear and was never seriously pressured as a round of 70 saw her end a two-year wait for victory on the Ladies European Tour.

"I'm so happy. It's very good because I won two years ago and I think it's the best sensation, the win, for the golfer," Schaeffer commented. "My golf today was very good and I played so well, the same as the last day, but my putting did not rendezvous. It's okay."
