Hideki Matsuyama Scores First Victory on PGA Tour
Hideki Matsuyama has become the 4th Japanese winner on the PGA Tour with his play off victory against Kevin Na at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday.

Matsuyama and Na finished the final round tied for first, just one stroke ahead of the overnight leader, Bubba Watson.  The two men entered a sudden-death play off with Matsuyama making par on the first hole to claim his maiden victory on the U.S. Tour.

The 22-year-old was forced to tee-off during the play off using his 3-wood after breaking his driver in frustration on his final hole.

“I didn't have a spare driver in my locker.  I didn't have time to go get one and I'd done OK with the three-wood, so I used that,” Matsuyama told reporters afterwards.

Being driver less seemed to be a non-issue for the Srixon player who hopes his first win is a sign of things to come.

“To win my first PGA Tour event is enough, but to win it here, at Mr. (Jack) Nicklaus’ course, it really gives me a lot of confidence now going on,” said Matsuyama.  “Hopefully, I’ll be able to use this week as a steppingstone to further my career.”
