Inbee Park Wins a Week After Losing #1
Perhaps it was the motivation she needed. Just one week after losing the #1 spot to Stacy Lewis, Inbee Park has won her first tournament of 2014 with victory at the Manulife Classic on Sunday.

Great putting proved key to Park’s success as she finished 23-under 261 for the event, 3-strokes ahead of runner-up Cristie Kerr. Marking an end to a winless streak for the South Korean that has lasted since last year’s U.S. Women’s Open.

“Definitely, the putter is definitely the key,” said Park. “I've been hitting the ball consistently all year, just my putter's just not been wanting to do its job. This week, obviously, it did its job.”

After an incredible 59 straight weeks at #1, Park lost the top spot to Lewis after the American’s win last week at the LPGA ShopRite Classic. Park was quick to cite a bit of relief for no longer having the pressure of maintaining the top spot. But after yesterday’s win, admitted it did add to her motivation over the weekend.

“I just didn't have any win after the U.S. Open,” Park said afterwards. “I was playing good but not great. So yeah, I think last week was a very good motivation and inspiration for me. So this week, I thought I needed to step it up a little bit.”

Park now looks ready to tackle Pinehurst in two week’s time. But will the 25-year-old be able to successfully defend her title?
