Juli Inkster Named U.S. Captain for 2015 Solheim Cup

Juli Inkster Named U.S. Captain for 2015 Solheim Cup
The Americans are looking to reclaim the Solheim Cup after two consecutive losses. On Tuesday, Juli Inkster was formally introduced as the U.S. captain and is hoping to bring a fun and relaxed vibe to the team.

The seven time major winner and nine time Solheim Cup player told reporters this week that the Europeans played hard and were deserving of their wins. However, Inkster is confident the Americans can bring home the Cup in 2015.

“The Europeans, they're hungry. They always seem to play their best golf as a team during Solheim Cup.  And we've just got to find a way to play to match their intensity and match their golf,” said Inkster.

With many of the top American players already showing their support, the 53-year-old is off to a good start.

“When we see all the highlight videos, Juli is in most of them, and she's usually dancing around the green and having fun,” said world number 3 Stacy Lewis. “And I think that's what she's going to bring to this. Like she said, we've played tight the last few years.  We've played to not lose instead of just going out there trying to win. I think she's going to help us relax a little bit and hopefully have a little bit more fun.”

The 2015 Solheim Cup will take place September 18-20 at St. Leon-Rot in Germany. Team Europe is expected to name their captain next month.
