Recari Triumphs at the Marathon Classic Over Creamer

Recari Triumphs at the Marathon Classic Over Creamer
Spain’s Beatriz Recari held her own this past weekend in a back-and-forth dual with one of the LPGA Tour’s veteran players, Paula Creamer. Securing her third career win and second of the season at the Marathon Classic in Sylvania, Ohio.

Recari entered the final round on Sunday tied for the lead with Creamer. The two players traded the top spot throughout the day, entering the 14th hole on level ground, before the 26-year-old sunk a 12-foot birdie putt securing a lead. Recari was then able to seal the deal with a five-foot putt to make par on the 18th, finishing the tournament with a 17-under par 267.

For most of the year, talk on the LPGA Tour has been around Inbee Park and her dominance and focus at the first three majors this season. But spectators were given a treat at Highland Meadows Golf Club this weekend as TaylorMade player Recari proved she is also one worth keeping your eye on.

“I have goals big enough that I want to accomplish,” Recari said after her victory. “There are great players out there, like Se Ri (Pak), Annika (Sorenstam), like Inbee (Park).  All I want to focus on is to be the best I can be. I cannot control what other people think about me. All I can do is put a good score out there, get those wins and the wins speak for themselves.”
