Rory McIlroy Continuing to Shine at First Round of the Memorial
Rory McIlroy has proved he’s serious about concentrating on his golf game.  Storming the first round of the Memorial Tournament to card a 9-under-63, the lowest opening day score at the event for 39 years.

Partnered alongside Adam Scott and Jason Day, McIlroy displayed the fine form that helped him claim victory last weekend at Wentworth.  Despite some left knee pain, two eagles and 3 birdies on the back nine secured the Nike player’s 3-stroke lead going into today’s second round.

Ensuring his knee is ready for play today, will McIlroy be able to continue his ride at the top of the leaderboard thru to Sunday?
“I don't think it's anything more than just being confident with my game,” the 25-year-old told reporters yesterday. “I was expecting this to happen. I've been playing well. I've been posting good numbers, good rounds. And I knew my game was close. And honestly, I don't think it's anything to do with what's happening off the golf course. It's just I've been trending in the right direction, and it's starting to all come together.”
