Stacy Lewis Regains World Number 1 Ranking

Stacy Lewis Regains World Number 1 Ranking
After an astonishing 59 weeks at number 1 Inbee Park has been usurped by America’s Stacy Lewis.

Lewis regained the top stop after winning the LPGA ShopRite Classic by 6-strokes on Sunday in New Jersey.  The 29-year-old is no stranger to number 1, having held the position for four weeks early last year.  But Park’s incredible run during 2013 quickly knocked Lewis back down the ranks.  This time she feels more ready to handle the added pressure.

“The last time it was taken away from me in an off-week when we weren't even playing, so I'm definitely just not going to take it for granted and really enjoy it this time,” said Lewis.  “Now I know all the extra things that come along with it.  But I'm ready for it this time.”

Sunday’s victory marks Lewis’ second of the season and 10th career win.

“It's just mind-boggling really to think I have 10 wins out here,” the Mizuno player said afterwards.  “There are so many good players, and it's so hard to win, so you never take them for granted.”
