Teenage Sensation Su-Hyun Oh Wins Australian Ladies Masters

Teenage Sensation Su-Hyun Oh Wins Australian Ladies Masters
Playing in only her second event as a professional golfer, Su-Hyun Oh made it count. Winning the Australian Ladies Masters over the weekend, 3-strokes ahead of the nearest competition..

Using the momentum she gained from last week’s Victorian Open, where Oh finished runner-up, the 18-year-old cruised to her first professional win after a final round of 4-under 69 at the Royal Pines Resort.

The Australian golfer, who was born in South Korea, is now the first teenager to win the event since 2006.

Firing four birdies over the final holes, Oh proved she has what it takes to compete with the top players on the Ladies European Tour. Gaining a two-year exemption thanks to her incredible victory.

As for what made the winning difference in a week, Oh explained she got some words of encouragement from someone who knows how to handle pressure on the golf course - seven-time major winner, Karrie Webb.

“I spoke to Karrie. I asked her: ‘what do I need to do, you’ve won this eight times,’” Oh told reporters afterwards. “Karrie said ‘just don’t think, just do it kind of. Just let it go, just keep doing what you’re doing.”

Oh will now be hoping she can once again “just do it” as she looks ahead to this week’s ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open.
