Tiger Woods is Taking Another Break
Former number 1 golfer Tiger Woods has announced on his website that he will be taking a break from tournament golf, admitting his game needs “a lot of work.”

This is the latest in a string of breaks the 39-year-old has been forced to take over the past twelve months.

Beginning with back surgery last March, Woods then returned to the PGA Tour in late June only to withdraw from the WGC-Bridgestone in early August before announcing he would be taking an extended break to rest and heal his back muscles.

Woods next gave it a go during his World Challenge Tournament in December, where he finished at the bottom of leaderboard, T17 with Hunter Mahan.

So far 2015 hasn’t been much kinder to the 14-time major winner. Two weeks Woods missed the cut at the Phoenix Open and last weekend was forced to withdraw from the Farmers Insurance Open.

Last night the Nike golfer posted a message on his website explaining his decision.

“The last two weeks have been very disappointing to me, especially Torrey, because I never want to withdraw. Unfortunately, lately injuries have made that happen too often,” said Woods.

Adding, “Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me. My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I’ve said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I’m ready, I’ll be back.”

Just when Woods might be ready is somewhat of a mystery. With the golfer hinting he would like to play at the Honda Classic, which begins in just two weeks, but only if his game improves.

“I’d like to play The Honda Classic – it’s a tournament in my hometown and it’s important to me -- but I won’t be there unless my game is tournament-ready. That’s not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be playing again very soon.”
