Turnberry, the venue which is due to host the 2009 Open Championship, is to be sold to a Dubai-based investment and development firm for £55 million.
Leisurecorp, part of the Dubai World group, has signed a Letter of Intent with the present owners Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
As well as acquiring the golf resort, which has two 18-hole Championship courses, Leisurecorp will gain control of the nine-hole Aaron Course and Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy.
The firm already own the Jumeirah Golf Estates - home to the Dubai World Championships and the European Tour International Headquarters - and the Pearl Valley Gold Estates which hosts the South African Open.
