The Twenty Ten course which will host its first event this week is the culmination of eight years hard work.
European Gold Design undertook the task of creating nine new holes and remodelling nine old holes in 2000, working towards the hosting of the 2010 Ryder Cup from which the course derives its name.
As well as producing a course of championship standard, the brief included ensuring provisions for the staging of an event which will draw massive international media attention, as well as ample spectator space and hospitality areas.
Ross McMurray of European Golf Design said: "It has been a great privilege to play a part in the development of the Twenty Ten Course at Celtic Manor Resort and to have the opportunity to create a golf course that is not only capable of challenging the world's greatest players but can also deal with all the requirements of staging a Ryder Cup."
The Ryder Cup holders going into the 2010 competition will be determined by who comes out on top in Valhalla this September, when the US and Europe will do battle in Kentucky.
