David Seaman, the ex-Arsenal and England goalkeeper, has revealed his affection for the popular golfing region of the Algarve.
The area on the southern tip of Portugal, which boasts over 30 golf courses and 300 days of sunshine a year, has won a place in Seaman's heart since the stopper ended his playing days.
Several holidays persuaded the 44-year-old and his partner to purchase a property in the Algarve, where he has since organised the Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic held at the Parque da Floresta resort.
"I originally came to the Algarve when I saw a holiday advertised in a brochure and I have been coming back to Parque da Floresta ever since," Seaman told the Algarve and Lisbon resident.
He carried on: "I heard that the Henry Cooper Golf Classic was finishing and I said that I would start my own; little did I know what I was letting myself in for!"
The 5,888 metres par-72 course at Parque da Floresta lies near to the Costa Vicentina nature reserve.
