A recent putter review by Golf magazine found the F3-DF model Heavy Putter (see picture) the best better for MOI rating, with a value over double some of the other top brands. The test was conducted to see which putter had the highest Moment of Inertia (MOI) resulting in more accurate putts.
When a ball is struck away from the sweetspot of the club, the ball doesn't travel as far because less energy is transferred to the ball and instead is wasted on twisting the club around the shaft. This can also lead to changes in the face angle at impact making you hit the ball offline.
The F3 Deep Face putter, which resembles a stealth fighter, utilises heavy
heel-toe weighting to ensure that puts stay on line.
The F3-DF blew away the competition achieving an unbelievable MOI rating of 6437 grams/cm², particularly impressive as this is a blade and not a mallet.. The closest rival was another Heavy Putter, the E3-DF, while companies like Yes! putters, and Nike were fairly close with 4884g/cm² for the Nike Unitized Neo, and 5442g/cm² for the Yes! Hanna putter. If you struggle with getting a consistent contact on the ball when putting, these are the clubs to go for.
Some of the clubs that didn't fare so well were the Scotty Cameron Red X3 (3344g/cm²), the Mizuno Black Carbon mallet (3038g/cm²) and the Odyssey Black series #3 3104g/cm²).
As well as the entire Heavy Putter range offering excellent MOI values, they all allow you the most stable putting stroke due to their unique weighing inside the shaft of the putter. With this stability, even those with the "yips" will find it tough to make a poor stroke.
