Greg Norman has become the latest figure in the upper echelons of the golfing fraternity to announce his approval for the proposal that golf should feature in the Olympic Games.
The former world number one likes the idea of each country fielding teams made up of both amateurs and professionals. While conceding that the International Olympic Committee has just cause to be concerned over the cost of re-introducing the sport at the games.
The Shark expressed his firm belief that golf's global status makes it a worthy inclusion. He said: "I had hoped to have played in the Olympics. That is a long time past me but hopefully other players will have the chance to experience it. "The game of golf is truly played on a global basis. It is played by all races and it is played on every continent."
Norman was speaking at the BMW Asian Open in Shanghai China, where he carded a final round 71 to finish at evens for the tournament, tied for 14th place. Support your country at the Olympics this Summer and buy a golf accessory from the patriot range
