Defending Houston Open champion Adam Scott shot a record 63 in his first appearance at this year's tournament - even though he is suffering from a fever and swollen glands.
The Australian golfer ended the first round on top of the leader board at nine under par - in joint first place with Texas native Johnson Wagner.
