Padraig Harrington is looking forward to his first appearance at the Welsh Open - the tournament starts today (Thursday, May 29th) and will be played on the new Twenty Ten course designed to host the Ryder Cup in two years time.
The Open champion is hoping to familiarise himself with the new venue, as well as getting in some vital practice ahead of next month's US Open.
He commented "It gives me an opportunity to get an early look at the course which will stage the next Ryder Cup in Europe and I've heard a lot of good things about it.
Adding: "I hear that it should provide a great challenge which will hopefully suit my game."
Welshman Bradley Dredge is hoping to put on another good display for his home crowd after losing out by a single stroke last year to South African Richard Sterne.
Other big names appearing include newly-crowned BMW PGA Championship winner Miguel Angel Jimenez, Darren Clarke and Robert Karlsson.
