Lee Westwood has withdrawn from the PGA BMW Championship completing only five holes of his second round after a virus left him feeling unwell.
Westwood, clearly feeling the effects of an illness, was two-over par for the round and seven-over for the tournament when he decided to call it a day.
The 35-year-old said that despite vomiting on Thursday (May 22nd) night, he did not think his poor health caused by food poisoning.
He said: "I had a Chinese meal last night, but I don't think it's something I ate because I've got a sore throat as well. I think it's a virus.
"It started about 20:00 BST last night and I was sick during the night and hardly got any sleep."
Westwood, leads the Ryder Cup points table and is third in the European Tour Order of Merit.
Robert Karlsson came from second spot today (Friday, May 23rd) to be the tournament's early afternoon clubhouse leader at nine-under par.
