Adam Scott Dubs Jason Day “Tiger-esque” after TPC Sawgrass Win

World number one Jason Day continues his dominance of golf, yesterday winning The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Day’s latest victory marks his seventh win in 17 starts, a record that has many comparing the Australian to another great golfer – Tiger Woods. Leading the comparison charge after yesterday’s win was Day’s compatriot Adam Scott.

“Well, that’s Tiger-esque, that kind of a run,” Scott told reporters on Sunday.  “I try to imagine how good Tiger felt playing five years into his pro career and having won 50 events. Imagine how you’d feel confidence-wise?”

The Aussie continued, “Jason must be feeling something like that at the moment. That’s an incredibly nice way to walk out on the golf course, and you can see it with Jason.”

The comparison is one Day happily accepts.  He even acknowledges the advice he has gotten from the 14-time major winner in recent months. Citing numerous phone calls and texts the two have exchanged as really helping him to remain focused during this incredibly successful time in his career. But Day also hints that Woods hasn’t yet given up on being able to compete against him.

“Tiger says he’s going to kick my butt when he comes back,” said Day. “If he does come back and he’s turned into Tiger Woods again, I’ve got to kind of watch my behind.”

We don’t think you have anything to worry about Jason, just sit back and enjoy the ride…
