Big Names Confirmed for Next Month’s Historic FBM Ladies Open

Next month the inaugural Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open will be the first-ever women’s professional golf event to be held in Abu Dhabi.

Taking place at the beautiful Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, 126 competitors will be playing for an impressive prize purse of $550,000. The stunning Gary Player designed course sits in the natural beauty of Saadiyat Island. Giving players breathtaking views of the Gulf as well as the unspoiled white sandy beaches.

Some of the top female golfers in the world have already secured their places at the historic event including Mel Reid, Carly Booth, Dame Laura Davies and Trish Johnson.

The new tournament on the Ladies European Tour schedule promises to offer something entirely new to Abu Dhabi sport. Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak; President of the General Women’s Union, Chief Executive Officer of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Higher Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the FBM Ladies Open hopes to inspire a new generation of female golfers in the region and also expand the profile of the women’s game worldwide.

“The perception of playing golf as a woman has certainly changed over recent years,” Booth has told reporters. “I’m hoping events like the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open will draw greater attention to the game, especially amongst Emirati women.”

Adding, “I’ve trained in Abu Dhabi many times and needless to say the facilities, as well as the climate, make for golfing paradise.”

With those playing in the tournament already raising the excitement levels, now we can’t wait to see the action when it starts November 2nd!
