Charley Hull and Melissa Reid have been confirmed for the 2015 European Solheim Cup Team, set to take place in Germany next month.
The announcement, made earlier this week, also named Suzann Pettersen and Gwladys Nocera to the team to be captained by Carin Koch. Europe is hoping to build upon an impressive last two meetings against the U.S side. 2013 marked a particularly poignant moment in the tournament’s history with the Europeans claiming victory for the first time on U.S. soil.
Koch will reveal the rest of her 12-women team August 25th during a live broadcast of “Sportswomen” on Sky Sports News. With four more automatic spots being awarded based on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings plus an additional four wild card picks.
The current European number one, Melissa Reid will be making her second Solheim Cup appearance. The Derby native has been a consistent player on the European Tour this season and claimed her fifth career win in May at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. Results Koch has been keenly aware of.
“I’m very impressed by Melissa's performance,” Koch said in a statement earlier this week. “She knew what she had to do and she went out and did it. It’s a lot of pressure, knowing that you have to perform and it’s one of the toughest things in golf.”
Pettersen will be making her 8th Solheim Cup appearance while it’s the 4th time for Nocera. In 2013 Hull became the youngest-ever member to compete on a Solheim Cup team and is looking forward to her second appearance.
