JB Holmes Secures First Win since 2008
While it might not be the name you were expecting or a name you’re overly familiar with, no one could deny that JB Holmes was a worthy recipient of Sunday’s Wells Fargo Championship title.

Having been the overnight leader, Holmes was able to hold off a surge from veteran Jim Furyk. Despite bogeying two of the last three holes the 32-year-old held his nerve to card a final round of 71, 14-under 274 overall. Securing his first win since 2008, just one-stroke ahead of fellow American, Furyk.

The road to his third PGA tour victory hasn’t been an easy one. Holmes underwent brain surgery in 2011 and last year after a rollerblading accident left him with a broken ankle the golfer decided to have elbow surgery.

“It’s been a long journey for me,” Holmes said afterwards. “I’ve had some ups and downs. It’s a great feeling to be out there and to get one done.”

Holmes will now be hoping to carry the momentum forward as his Quail Hollow win puts him in the field this week at the Players Championship.
