Jordan Spieth Holds his Nerve to Win The Masters 2015

Jordan Spieth Holds his Nerve to Win The Masters 2015
Jordan Spieth has secured his first Green Jacket with an incredible start to finish victory at The Masters 2015.

In only his second appearance at the major, the young Texan shattered his competition with the poise and grace of a golfer much older than his 21 years.

While many awaited the dreaded final day meltdown, Spieth remained cool, calm and collected.  Holding off major veterans Justin Rose and Phil Mickelson to finish with an impressive 18-under 270.  Tying Tiger Woods 1997 Masters record and becoming only the fifth player in history to win the tournament after leading all four rounds.

“This was arguably the greatest day of my life,” Spieth told reporters afterwards.  “To join Masters history and put my name on that trophy and to have this jacket forever, it’s something that I can’t fathom right now.”

It was just 12 months ago that the then-20-year-old took on Augusta for the first time in his professional career.  Finishing joint-runner-up with Jonas Blixt to the 2014 champion Bubba Watson.

Since last April Spieth has continued to shine, racking up seven-top-10 finishes in the last 10 events he’s played.  He headed into Augusta with great momentum last week after finishing T2 at the Shell Houston Open, runner-up at the Valero Texas Open and claiming victory at the Valspar Championship all within the last month.

Now with his first major win under his belt, Spieth jumps from number four in the World Rankings up to number two, just behind Rory McIlroy.

The Titleist player made his next goal apparent stating yesterday, “The ultimate goal each week is to be the number one player in the world.”  Adding, “I don’t think I am with this [win].  I’m still behind him [McIlroy]; still chasing that goal.  But one step closer is huge.  I don’t expect to change the way I’m playing.”

He might not be the number one player in the world just yet, but it’s apparent Jordan Spieth has well and truly arrived.  Marking a definitive shift in the professional golf world as the next generation of player emerges from America.  Watch out Rory….he’s coming for you!
