Lee Westwood Captures First Win Since 2012

Lee Westwood Captures First Win Since 2012
Lee Westwood won the Malaysian Open by an astounding 7-strokes on Sunday after a nearly 4-hour rain delay.

Play was stopped at the Kuala Lumpur Country Club due to a storm and fear of lightning.  But that didn’t stop 40-year-old Westwood from claiming his first victory since the 2012 Nordea Masters in Sweden.

Going into the final round with a 1-stroke lead, Westwood quickly increased the margin to four after 11 holes.  Finishing the day with a 68, 18-under for the tournament.

The Englishman gave credit to his new coach for the lift his game has been experiencing in recent weeks.

“I started working with a new coach a few weeks ago, Mike Walker, and Billy Foster came back on the bag at the end of last year, so I was going back to what I had done before because it had worked,” Westwood said afterwards.

“It's started to work already - the last couple of weeks I've played well in Houston and at the Masters last week and this week I've obviously played very well.  My game has the potential to be as good as it was a few years back although it will make a hell of a difference being able to get up and down and rolling a few putts in.”
