Mizuno Unveils Three Incredible JPX900 Iron Versions

Mizuno has taken their attention to detail to new heights in order to create a superior iron to suit every level of golfer, from the elite to the game-improver. Here we take a look at the brand’s three distinct levels of the JPX900 Irons and give you all the info you’ll need to make your next Mizuno purchase.

The Mizuno JPX900 Tour Irons

These are the irons built for the better golfer, although they are also surprisingly forgiving on those pesky off-centre hits. Mizuno states the JPX Tour is the purest and most solid feeling iron they have ever produced. Crafted from a single billet of premium 1025E Mild Carbon Steel, the Tour irons promise better players crisp ball striking, excellent workability and enhanced trajectory control.

The classic look and finish of the Mizuno JPX900 Tour Irons offer a satin finish, straighter lines, a compact face as well as a narrow tapered sole. The Web.com player Adam Schenk commented, “I like things that look good and this is probably the best looking club I’ve ever hit.  It’s fancy.”

The Mizuno JPX900 Forged Irons

Specifically engineered for the mid-low handicapper, the JPX900 Forged Irons are the brand’s second generation of irons to use Boron infused steel. Featuring a midsize profile on the long-mid irons, the JPX900 Forged offer maximum forgiveness with higher launch and a better ball flight.

The 1025 Boron Steel has been used by Mizuno to create a multi-thickness face. A milled pocket helps to enhance the energy transfer over a wider impact zone and therefore increases ball speeds off the face of the club. The entire look of these irons make them confidence inspiring at address but don’t just take our word for it.

“If we could only make one iron for the world’s golfers to play – it would probably be the JPX900 Forged,” explains Chris Voshall Senior Club Engineer for Mizuno.

Adding, “It’s beautifully shaped and compact enough for a tour player to throw in the bag. But also incredibly quick off the face and loses very little from miss-hits. There’s almost no compromise to make in any direction.”

The Mizuno JPX900 Hot Metal

This is the iron all mid-high handicap golfers have dreamed of! Mizuno have used the new Chromoly 4140M to produce the brand’s thinnest-ever cup face. This incredible material, also used in specialist bicycle designs, allows for insane distance while remaining soft and bendable in the hosel for precise lie and angle adjustments.

The feel of the Hot Metal Irons is solid yet soft enough to give you the best feedback. By using the unique base material Chromoly, Mizuno has been able to go extremely thin on the face of the club without losing any of its bendability.

“It’s great for a designer when a new material like Chromoly comes into play as it opens up a world of new avenues for us,” shares Voshall. “We’ve been looking for a material that gives a little more pop from the face, but without the hardness that stops us bending the neck for custom- fitting. Chromoly opened that door.”
