Padraig Harrington has put to bed seven years without a win on the PGA or European Tours, beating Daniel Berger in a Monday playoff at the Honda Classic.
The three-time major winner has waited a long time and endured some difficult days on the golf course but stated yesterday he thinks he’s found the mental edge he’s been lacking since winning the PGA Championship in August 2008.
“Hopefully this isn’t an isolated win,” Harrington told reporters yesterday. “I really do believe in myself. I think I’ve found that mental edge that I’ve been lacking the last number of years. Hopefully I’ll be able to stick with that going forward and be consistently contending because I know, if I am contending, I can win.”
Armed with the latest in Wilson Staff equipment including the

FG Tour TC Wedge , Harrington cruised to the top of the leaderboard during Monday’s final round in Palm Beach Gardens. Showcasing the confidence and fine form he’s been trying to regain over the past few seasons.
Harrington sealed his fate with a 16-foot putt using his
Wilson Staff Infinite South Side Putter to force a playoff with 21-year-old Berger. The Irishman went on to win the second playoff hole, claiming his second Honda Classic title, ten years after his first.
Harrington’s long awaited win jumps him from 297th to 82nd in the official world golf rankings and earns him a place at the Masters Tournament in a few weeks time. But the seasoned golfer is determined to not his latest success go to his head.
“It’s not about what it means to my career or what it means going forward,” explained Harrington. “You don't win that often. When you win, make sure you enjoy it.”
While the Wilson Staff player might not be outwardly boasting just yet we’re pretty sure he’s hoping his game continues to gain speed, just in time for Augusta.
