In a year where
Phil Mickelson won The Open Championship just one week after claiming victory at the Scottish Open, it would be a fair assumption that the Callaway player was on top form. But despite great success over the summer the 43-year-old admitted 2013 hasn’t been his best season.
With only two top-20 finishes since winning at Muirfield, Mickelson confessed the grueling tournament schedule is beginning to have an emotional and physical affect on his game.
“I don't play at my highest level every single week. I have kind of ups and downs and I'm a very emotional player,” Mickelson told reporters after the PGA Championship last month. “I am going to have to factor that into some of my scheduling and maybe cut out 25% of my events in an effort to play at a high level when I do play.”
