Adam Scott’s On Fire Down-Under

by Maura Hutchinson

Adam Scott finished a phenomenal first day at the Australian Open, setting a course round record of 62.  With six consecutive birdies to start the day, the Australian quickly blew ahead of the competition, leaving many of his peers in absolute awe.

“That's how the best players in the world play and I got to witness it today and it was special,” said Scott’s playing partner Jason Day.  “That's something that I'm going to remember for a long time.  I look forward to playing with him tomorrow and hopefully catching him.”

The Titleist player’s amazing start had him thinking a 59 finish might just be in the cards.  But his lucky streak of birdies inevitably slowed down.  But Scott is more than satisfied with ending score.

“It's an amazing start.  I remember Greg Norman birdieing the first six holes at Royal Troon in 1989 and that was about as good a start as I can remember.”

The 33-year-old will now be hoping his great form continues throughout the weekend, as he looks to become the second player in history to win Australia’s three majors in the same season.
