Big Names Missing this Weeks Deutsche Bank Championship

by Maura Hutchinson

Whether through injury, ineligibility or personal reasons many of the top names in golf will be missing the opening tee-off at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston this Friday.

The second of four PGA Tour play off events, the Deutsche Bank Championship invites the top-100 FedEx Cup point players to compete before narrowing the field down to 70 for the third instalment, next week’s BMW Championship.

But many of the big name draws in golf won’t be seen at TPC Boston this weekend with Tiger Woods, Jason Dufner, Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia either not qualifying or withdrawing.

Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell also withdrew earlier this week after his wife gave birth to their first child.

However, spectators and fans won’t be disappointed, as there’s still some exciting golf to watch with players in the field including Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Jason Day and last week’s winner Hunter Mahan.
