Callaway Brings Back Big Bertha in a Big Way

by Maura Hutchinson

Earlier this week Callaway Golf unveiled two new drivers for the 2014 season.  The Big Bertha Driver and the Big Bertha Alpha Driver represent the brand’s efforts to bring golfers the latest in quality design and technology.

Available from mid-February next year, both drivers incorporate the integrity and innovative concepts you’d expect from one of the biggest names in golf.  Boasting Callaway’s first-ever adjustable perimeter weighting technology, the drivers work to control gravity, maximising distance and increasing ball speed.

Callaway’s head of research and development, Dr. Alan Hocknell calls the new Big Bertha a total performance driver, making it suitable for all golfers regardless of age or ability.

“We didn't bring the name back out of some misguided sense of nostalgia,” Hocknell states.  “We brought it back to advance the science of hitting the ball far.  The goal of driver design at Callaway is to individualise performance optimisation for every golfer, giving them the best chance to optimise driving distance.”
