Callaway Unveils its Own Mini Driver, The Bertha Mini 1.5

by Maura Hutchinson

Callaway Golf has entered the mini driver craze with the release of its Bertha Mini 1.5 Driver.

The brand is following on from an impressive 2014 by continuing to churn out new and exciting technology in 2015.  The Bertha Mini represents Callaway’s vision of blending a driver and fairway wood to create a club that promotes distance, forgiveness and versatility.

“The significant difference with the Bertha Mini 1.5 is that it has all the forgiveness you would expect of a Bertha driver and, therefore, will appeal to a much wider cross section of golfers,” says Dr Alan Hocknell, senior vice president of research and development at Callaway Golf.

First seen on Tour in April at the RBC Heritage, the Bertha Mini has gained some well-known support with Patrick Reed among its professional fans.  So what makes this mini driver so appealing?

“It’s about an inch-and-a-half shorter than the typical driver, which allows golfers to make more consistent impact,” explains Callaway Golf’s senior manager of product performance in metalwoods, Evan Gibbs.  “But at 235cc, it’s also about 35 percent larger than the typical 3-wood, so it gives you ability to retain more ball speed and distance if you don’t hit the center of the face.”

The adjustability of the club lends way to one of its greatest assets.  Available in two lofts and featuring the brand’s OptiFit Hosel technology, you’re able to fine-tune the club to your desired setting.  Offering golfers the ultimate in choice from the tee to the fairway.
