Jimmy Walker Secures Third Win in Eight Starts

by Maura Hutchinson

It might not be a name you’re very familiar with but Jimmy Walker is proving he’s a force to be reckoned with this season on the PGA Tour. Winning his third tournament in eight starts at the Pebble Beach Pro Am over the weekend.

Going into the final round 6-strokes ahead of his nearest competition, the pressure looked to be getting to the 35-year-old on Sunday, as this lead quickly dwindled. But Walker was able to hold his nerve against huge players including Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson to come back from a disastrous back nine and win by one stroke over Johnson and Jim Renner.

Walker now joins the likes of Tiger Woods, Mickelson and David Duvall as the only players in the last 20 years to win three or more times in eight starts. A season beginning the Texan is more than happy with.

“I just go out and play golf," Walker said after Sunday’s win. “This is what I want to do and I've worked really hard to do it, to be here. And to be in this position and it's really cool.”
