American Daly made the last minute decision to play in Connecticut after being confirmed as an alternate on Tuesday. The 48-year-old was scheduled to play at the Irish Open but cancelled upon learning he had a spot at Travelers.
“I told (the Irish Open tournament director) that if there was a chance to get into Hartford, ‘You know where I’m going,’ Daly said over the weekend. “I don’t think he liked that too much, but that was our deal.”
With girlfriend, Anna Cladakis debuting on his bag, Daly proved to still be a crowd pleaser more than 20 years after his first PGA Tour win. While he’s definitely past his golfing prime, the 2-time major winner managed to make the cut. Ultimately finishing T57 at 2-under par.
