Justin Thomas prepares to defend major by winning WGC – Bridgestone

by Maura Hutchinson

American golfer Justin Thomas picked up his ninth career title on Sunday and his first World Golf Championship win at the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.  Cruising to a four-shot victory over Kyle Stanley.

The 25-year-old played exceptionally well all week, closing out the final round with a 69 to finish with a 15-under total. Making his win all the more special was that Thomas’ parents and grandparents were all there to celebrate it with him.

“I got a little choked up when I saw grandma and grandpa over there,” Thomas told reporters. “It’s really cool. They don’t get to come out very often.”

Thomas’ latest win is his third of the season, putting him in the same company as Bubba Watson and World Number One Dustin Johnson as the only players to have three wins on Tour this year. The perfect confidence boost needed as he heads to Bellerive this week to defend his first major title.

Here’s a look at the Titleist gear Thomas is using, including the brand new TS3 Woods the golfer is raving about:
