Lydia Ko Splits with Golf Coach
by Maura Hutchinson
From which tournaments she’ll play in, to who’s managing her and what companies she’ll sign with, all things Ko have been a hot topic for 2013. But this latest news came as a shock to some while others are seeing it as a logical and natural progression for the young LPGA player.
To Ko the decision to change coaches was geographical. With Wilson still based in New Zealand the golfer realised it would be a difficult partnership to continue utilising.
“I'm going to be away from home,” said Ko. “I'd only see him like 10 times a year and to me that kind of situation didn't work out.”
While Wilson, who had become very close Ko and her family over the past decade released a statement saying, “While I’m incredibly disappointed that our 11-year partnership is over, I respect Lydia and her team’s decision.”
