Stacy Lewis Talks Mixed-Gender Ryder Cup Style Tournament

The world's top female golfer, Stacy Lewis has stated she would like to play in a mixed gender Ryder Cup style event.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the American believes such a tournament would be great for golf and really help to bring the ladies' game more exposure.

"It would be a great thing," said the 29-year-old.  "Anything like that would help sell our sport.  I'd be a huge fan.  I'd be all over it and love to play."

While Lewis seems up for the challenge, the PGA chief Pete Bevacqua confirmed to BBC Sport that the staging of such an event is not currently being considered but that doesn't rule it out for the future.

Stating, "It's an interesting idea, but it's not on our radar screen."  Before adding, "But never say never."

For Lewis' part she already knows the golfers she would want to team up with if the schedules of the PGA and LPGA ever allow it.

"If I was to pick someone to play with in the fourballs or foursomes it would be Rickie Fowler or Jordan Spieth.  They are both good putters under pressure."

Lewis' mixed-gendered tournament dream will have to wait for now, as the golfer's attention will be focusing on this weekend's Reignwood LPGA Classic in Beijing.  The Mizuno player is hoping to come out on top Sunday after being beaten at the event last year by just one-stroke.
