Swimming Legend Michael Phelps Injures His Foot on the Golf Course

by Maura Hutchinson

You would think after 22 Olympic medals Michael Phelps would be past trying his hand at another sport. But since retiring from the competitive world of swimming last fall, the 28-year-old has turned his free time to a new passion-golf!

It appears his recent hobby took a turn for the worse as he was seen limping around the World Championships in Barcelona this past weekend, sporting a rather large boot on his right foot.

The swimmer’s former coach, Bob Bowman explained to the AP that an initial foot injury worsened after Phelps played golf.

“He hit his foot somehow in the house and then he did that tournament when he walked about 20 miles and got a little stress fracture.”

Looking a little worse-for-wear Phelps was able to see the humor in his damage.  Revealing, “Golf really is a dangerous sport. The good thing is, I only have to pack one shoe.”

Lets hope he has better luck on his next round!
