TaylorMade Introduces its First Driver with Speed Pocket Technology

by Maura Hutchinson

Last week TaylorMade unveiled its newest line of equipment ready to hit the market this December.  The TaylorMade JetSpeed Driver,Fairway Woods and Rescue Clubs are the brand’s latest metal woods creations, replacing the RBZ Stage 2 family.

For the first time in its history, TaylorMade have incorporated a speed pocket into their driver design.  Something they believe will help to reduce spin and minimise the negative effects of striking below the centre of the club face.

TaylorMade’s Senior Director of Metalwood Creation explained, “With most drivers, low impact generates too much spin, making the ball fly too high and land short.”  Adding, “JetSpeed's Speed Pocket is engineered to dramatically reduce that added spin to promote more distance on that very common type of mis-hit.”

For the JetSpeed Fairway Woods and Rescue Clubs, TaylorMade went back to the drawing board, redesigning the speed pocket to a smaller size with less weight, combined with a low-profile head design to improve contact with the club face below the ball’s equator to help promote an easier launch.
